The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) in May 2021 has increased by 1.1 per cent year-on-year from 100.9 in May 2020 to 102.0 this year. Both Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages and Non-Food index have recorded an increase of 0.9 per cent and 1.2 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, the Goods as well as Services index have increased by 1.5 per cent and 0.6 per cent, respectively.
On a month-on-month basis, the CPI has decreased by 0.1 per cent compared to April 2021. Both Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages and Non-Food index have recorded a decrease of 0.4 per cent and 0.1 per cent, respectively.
For period-on-period, the CPI for January to May 2021 registered an increase of 1.5 per cent compared to the same period last year.
